I have a BA in Modern Languages and I am offering tutoring for Spanish and Italian, plus Primary French. I studied both languages at Cardiff University and spent a fantastic year abroad for ERASMUS split between Parma and Granada.

Both semesters gave me incredible experiences, allowed me to immerse myself in the cultures and really hone my language skills. I worked as a language teacher in Spain and love sharing my passion for languages and culture with others!

During the final part of my ERASMUS semester I worked for a translation company in Granada, teaching English B1 level to adolescents and adults in preparation for the Cambridge English exams. I then returned to Granada after graduating and resumed this post, teaching up to C2 level English, both one on one and in group sessions. This gave me fantastic experience in teaching a range of levels to students with varying abilities, allowing me to tailor my approach depending on the learning styles of each student.

Since moving back to the UK, I have been teaching conversational and written Spanish to adults, offering private classes for beginners – more advanced.

As part of this I have taught the combined GCSE Science courses including the new course as well as all 3 strands of separate Science using the AQA specification. I have written thousands of resources over the course of my career and have ran training sessions for other members of staff on effective teaching and learning and maximising progress of all learners.

My results are always above the expected progress rates for all key stages and my A level Biology results have been in the top 10 in the country for value added scores and have been the only state school to achieve this year on year. Mary is a specialist Dyslexia Tutor and Assessor and has had years of experience supporting individuals in their learning along with boosting confidence and self-belief.

As a tutor Mary provides support for general learning in particular with Maths and English to Primary and Secondary learners who need a boost in confidence. The learner’s needs are assessed and tuition is tailored according to the learning style and needs of the individual student. This includes a range of learning resources and games to aid with learning and to target weaker areas of understanding.

Mary has worked closely with the school’s SENCO to support and enhance the learning of children with specific learning needs, including Dyslexia.
